As you know this blog is about transformation and how we experience and understand it. Flowers are often used as the proxy to explain and experience said transformation.

So we came across a familiar quote about which wolf are you feeding and borrowed the idea to think about flowers.

Let us share the story with you:

One evening an elder Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside all people. He said: “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us. One is Fear. It carries anxiety, concern, uncertainty, hesitancy, indecision and inaction. The other is Faith. It brings calm, conviction, confidence, enthusiasm, decisiveness, excitement and action.” The grandson thought about it for a moment and then meekly asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee replied, “The one you feed.”

A client of ours, told us about how she would perceive debt before thinking about using flowers in her life. It was huge and a monster. It had power, she did not. It told her what to do, and she could just follow. She had no idea of possibility. It was breathing on her neck, and was strict and stern. She described how she would tiptoe and feel sick in her tummy. She would imagine that she weren’t there and would never look at her bills because it might come out and really tell her off. She would not dare to look at money.

Economists say money is money; two plus two equals four. Financial decisions are mathematics.

Here we disagree. Money is emotional and we often go for happiness / survival / convenience instead of numbers.

Sometimes it leads to paid-off mortgages and gifts like flowers.

At other times, it leads to debt and being told off for ‘wasting’ money you did not have.

Our client felt ashamed of her debt. This is very common we found in our buyers. Yet we never focused on her shame in our conversation.

Our client told us she felt that she had finally turned around and took a good look at the monster right behind her.

No hesitation. No shame. No fear.

Just knowing that she was OK. 

She started feeding the right wolf.
