Let’s play with flowers after dropping phones into water!

Beloved Flower Lover,

Three member of our team just dropped their phones into  a bucket water and we all screamed for them. Everyone has told them to separate the phones, cover up the holes with sellotape and dunk into rice or oats. They did that and now are in the world of telephone silence and going back to their email!

With all that stress, we decided we needed to play. We all knew why it happened. We were rushing to a client and there had been a little ‘argue bargy’ in camp. A little shouting, too little listening, too much I am right,  and just too much…. and it ended up like that.

Everyone went their separate ways to complete tasks and came back and after a little tearing up we decided to do something-different. Who cares about a phone if you can’t have friends!

We thought back to a flower workshop we did last year which was so much fun and decided we needed to loosen up.

Play is often considered frivolous and unproductive as we enter into the ‘serious’ role of becoming adults. However, play is an important activity that simultaneously provides relaxation and stimulation to the brain and body. We had developed the flower workshop from inspirations from board games, live gaming and playful interactions with role players, as tools which bring about humour.

We had done this because it  encourages audiences to feel safe when entering into new experiences, reduces their barriers to interact with one another, and fosters flexibility in learning.

We notice that it also permits them to tap back into a child-like state and cultivate their imagination, creativity and problem-solving skills. Play is also a powerful tool for changing behaviour through fun, as people are more likely to consider their actions and willing to adapt them if they are enjoying the activity.

Indulge your playful side
